West Lafayette, Indiana-- IU sophomore Jennifer Brown broke her own school record in the hammer throw on the first day of the Big Ten Track and Field Championships at Rankin Track and Field Friday in West Lafayette.
Brown threw the hammer 50.56m (165-10) to improve 1.10m (3-7 1/4) on the old IU mark she set earlier this season in the meet against Cincinnati and Western Michigan on April 10th. The mark placed Brown fifth in the Big Ten Championships.
IU junior Cori McLeod finished fifth in the pole vault by clearing 3.50m (11-5 3/4). The vault was just short of her school record mark of 3.55m (11-5 3/4).
