    *DAY ONE*

    BIG TEN OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

    Columbus, Ohio. -- There was only one final event on the first day of the Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio and that was the 10,000m run for the men and women. Steve Beguin placed 17th for Indiana at 32:06.61 and Anne Marshall placed 18th in 40:42.48.

    In the heptathlon, IU's Alicia Bundy is in seventh place with 2,714 points. Tania Longe of Michigan leads the event after first day action with 3,390 points.

    Bundy's marks and points are as follows:
    100m hurdles--15.68, 813 pts.
    high jump--5'02.25", 712 pts.
    shot put--30'09", 488 pts.
    200m--26.33, 769 pts.

    In women's hammer exhibition, Indiana's Jennifer Kamtz was seventh at 145U 10.00.S
