BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Wendi Robinson and Sarah Pease have been named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District first and second teams, respectively, CoSIDA has announced. The honor is bestowed upon student-athletes in the sports of cross country and track and field whom excel on the track as well as in the classroom. As a first-team honoree, Robinson is a nominee for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced on Thursday, June 24.

Indiana track and field director and head coach Ron Helmer said the two honorees represent the ideal student-athlete with their excellence in the classroom as well as on the track.

"It is always great when our kids earn awards like this because it comes from hard work both on the track and in the classroom, and that is what being a student-athlete is all about," Helmer said.

Robinson and Pease each earned All-Big Ten and All-Region honors during the cross country season and were also honored as All-Academic selections by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The pair were instrumental in leading the Hoosiers to a team berth the NCAA Cross Country Championships in November and recently competed at the NCAA East Preliminaries in Greensboro, N.C., where Pease advanced to the NCAA Championships in the 3,000m steeplechase.

The Hoosiers head to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., on June 9-12. For complete coverage of IU track and field, stay tuned to IUHoosiers.com.
