PARK RIDGE, Ill. - The Big Ten Conference announced the Spring Academic All-Big Ten team on Monday, June 6, with Indiana boasting 109 student-athletes on the list. That total is an increase from 105 in 2010 and 83 in 2009. The IU rowing team led all Indiana sports with 26 honorees.

"To have 109 Academic All-Big Ten honorees speaks volumes about the quality of our student-athletes, coaches and academic support staff," said IU Vice President and Director of Athletics Fred Glass.

Indiana women's track and field had 22 honorees, including a 4.0 grade point average from senior Vera Neuenswander. Men's track and field has 15 honorees, softball has 10 honorees including a 4.0 GPA from Kelsey Brannon, water polo has nine and men's golf has eight. IU's baseball team boasts seven honorees, while men's tennis, women's golf and women's tennis each have four honorees.

To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letterwinners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher.
