    Hoosiers Look To Punch Tickets to Daegu at USAs

    The USA Track and Field Championships are next up for the Hoosiers. Nine current Hoosiers and seven former Hoosiers are competing at the national championship meet in Eugene, Ore., this week. The meet pits the nation's best against each other, with everyone looking for a spot on Team USA at the World Championships in Daegu, South Korea in late August.

    Current Hoosiers making the trip to compete in the senior championships are Kelsie Ahbe and Vera Neuenswander in the pole vault, Faith Sherrill in the shot put, Sarah Pease in the 3,000m steeplechase, Kind Butler and Devin Pipkin in the 100 meters, and Andrew Poore and De'Sean Turner in the 3,000m steeplechase. Current Hoosiers competing as juniors in the meet are Taja Moore in the discus and Hale O'Herren in the 1,500 meters.

    Former Hoosier women competing for a trip to Korea are Danielle Carruthers in the 100m hurdles, Rachelle Boone-Smith in the 100 meters, Molly Beckwith in the 800 meters, 2004 Olympian Rose Richmond in the long jump and current IU assistant coach Abbie (Stechschulte) Norton in the heptathlon. Former IU men competing are Stephen Haas in the 10,000 meters, two-time Olympic medalist David Neville in the 400 meters, John Jefferson in the 1,500 meters and 2008 Olympian and current IU volunteer assistant Aarik Wilson in the triple jump.
