Hoosiers Announce 2007 Schedule

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana track and field program has announced its 2007 indoor and outdoor track and field schedules. The Hoosiers are the proud caretaker of one of the fastest indoor tracks in the country. The 200m banked Mondo surface track with the widest radius allowed under IAAF/NCAA rules served as the NCAA Championship track in Indianapolis for a number of years. It now calls the Gladstein Fieldhouse on the campus of IU home.
Indiana will host six indoor competitions that are open to all competitors. The formats vary from one meet to the next. The first two, the Indiana Open and the Indiana Open II are one-day events open to all competitors.
The Indiana Team Classic on Jan. 20 will feature teams competing in a scored team competition. If you are interested in the team scored competition please contact director of track and field Randy Heisler at 812-855-9061.
On January 26-27, the Gladstein Invitational will feature a multi-event competition as well as invitational only finals in a number of events.
The Indiana Relays on Feb. 2-3 will have qualifying rounds on Friday with finals on Saturday. There will also be many invitational events as well.
Heisler and company open the road slate of the tentative indoor away schedule on February 9-10 with a trip to the Tyson Invitational hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Following its first road trip, Indiana will host the Hoosier Hills meet on Feb. 16, which is an open meet to all competitors.
The Hoosiers will host the men's Big Ten Championships at Gladstein Fieldhouse on February 24-25, while the women will compete in Champaign, Ill. at the University of Illinois' Armory Track the same weekend.
Following the Notre Dame Last Chance Qualifier on March 3, the Hoosiers wrap up the indoor schedule at the NCAA Indoor Championships hosted by Arkansas in Fayetteville on March 9-10.
After ending the month of March and opening outdoor at the Stanford Invitational March 30-31, IU will host the Indiana Relays on April 7 at the E.C. "Billy" Hayes Track in the Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex in preparation for the Missouri Relays, in Columbia, on April 13-14. The weekend of April 26-28 will find the Hoosiers splitting up to compete in two of the most historic meets in the nation, the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa and the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa.
Indiana will host its final meet of the outdoor season, the Billy Hayes Invitational, on May 4, and will close out the month of May at the Big Ten Championships May 11-13 in University Park, Pa. on the campus of Penn State and at the NCAA Regional Championships in Columbia, Mo., hosted by the University of Missouri.
The NCAA Championships are scheduled for June 7-9 in Sacramento, Calif., while the United States Track and Field Championships will be in Indianapolis, Ind., June 21-23.

Entry procedures of the two meets hosted by the Hoosiers during outdoor competition will follow the same as the indoor meet entries.
