EUGENE, Ore. - Former IU standout David Neville advanced to the 400m finals at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials on Monday, June 30, recording the fourth best time in the semifinals when he crossed the finish line in 45.03 seconds. His time was just .37 seconds behind top-qualifier and 2004 Olympic gold-medalist Jeremy Wariner.

Neville was a five-time All-American in just three years at Indiana. He chose to forego his senior year of eligibility to sign a professional contract after winning two Big Ten championships during his junior season in the 200m and 400m. Neville will run in the event finals on Thursday evening at 11:15 p.m. ET.

Another former Hoosier advanced at the Olympic Trials on Monday. Four-time Big Ten champion Rose Richmond advanced to the finals in the long jump with her leap of 6.50m (21-4). The jump was the sixth best in Monday's qualifying round and was just 16 centimeters shy of the top mark of 6.66m (21-10.25), which was recorded by Hyleas Fountain.

Richmond was a two-time All-American at Indiana, winning four Big Ten championships from 2000-2003. Richmond was also the second female Olympian in IU school history, as she competed in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. Richmond also won the long jump at the 2005 USA Track and Field Championships. She will compete in the event finals on Thursday at 10:20 p.m. ET.

Two other former Hoosiers competed at the trials on Monday. Lorian Price recorded a mark of 5.81m (19-0.75) in the long jump, and Wil Fleming recorded a heave of 63.62m (208-9) in the hammer throw.
