The 2013 Indiana Volleyball season is just around the corner, and the team had its annual photo day this week.
Ryan Sullivan is in his second season as volunteer assistant coach for Indiana Volleyball, but he is no stranger to the program. Sullivan served as a practice player for the Hoosiers while completing his undergraduate degree at Indiana and served as a team captain for the nationally prominent Indiana Men's Club Volleyball program.
In 2012, Sullivan's first season on the IU staff, the Hoosiers showed glimpses of great things to come, taking victories over 17th-ranked Purdue at home and Wisconsin, Northwestern and Iowa on the road. During the season, Kelci Marschall and Jordan Haverly both eclipsed 1,000 career kills becoming Indiana's 15th and 16th members of the 1,000-kill club. Haverly hauled in honorable mention All-Big Ten laurels for her efforts on the season.
Sullivan led the club Hoosiers to three national top-10 finishes, as the team was ninth in 2009, third in 2010 and fifth in 2011. A five-year captain, Sullivan earned 2010 First Team All-Tournament honors at the NCVF National Championships. He also led the Hoosiers to a 2010 MIVA Conference Championships and a 2011 Big Ten Championship match appearance.
Sullivan served as a practice player for the IU team in 2008, 2010 and 2011. He served as head coach of the Hoosierland Girls 15-1's in 2010.
