Volleyball Opens Season with Sweep of RMU

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana Volleyball (1-0) opened the season with a 3-0 victory over Robert Morris (0-1), getting 11 kills from Jordan Haverly in the match. The Hoosiers won 25-13, 25-20, 25-18. IU had 39 kills and held the Colonials to just 15.
Indiana hit .212 as a team and stifled the RMU offense to just -.029 hitting on 68 swings. Awele Nwaeze hit .500 with eight kills and added five blocks and one of IU's six aces in the match. Libero Caitlin Hansen led the Hoosiers with eight digs.
The Hoosiers split the first 10 points of the match before starting to pull away in the first, including a 7-1 run that brought the score to 18-10. IU outscored RMU 7-3 to close out the set. The Hoosiers spread out the attack in the set, getting kills from six players in the set. IU blocked four Colonial attempts in the set, including three from freshman Jazzmine McDonald, who finished with five in the match.
The second set saw the Hoosiers storm out to a 9-3 lead and never relinquish the lead en route to a 25-20 win. IU got six kills from Haverly in the frame and three each from McDonald and Amelia Anderson. Anderson added two service aces in the set as well.
The third set saw Nwaeze kill five on six swings en route to a 25-18 set win. Haverly added four kills and all seven of her digs in the match in the frame as well.
