Hoosier Offense Explodes to Take Down TSU

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana Volleyball (7-1) beat a feisty Tennessee State team (1-4) by a 3-1 score (25-27, 25-15, 25-21, 25-14), hitting .376 in the match. IU had four Hoosiers with 12 or more kills, including 16 from Morgan Leach.
Leach led the way with 16 kills, hitting .480 in the match, and she got plenty of help as Amelia Anderson had 14 kills (.321), Awele Nwaeze had 12 (.450) and Jordan Haverly had 13 (.526). IU got a season-high 18 digs from Caitlin Hansen and 12 from Katie Gallagher, who added 39 assists for her first double-double of the year. The Hoosiers got four blocks from freshman Jazzmine McDonald. Nwaeze led the charge from the service stripe, acing the Tigers three times.
The Hoosiers had 20 kills in the first set, including six from Leach, but were unable to get a firm grasp of the match's momentum, leading to a 27-25 set win for the Tigers. TSU got six kills from Naomi Wells in the frame, who finishing with 12 in the match.
Indiana settled in during the second, holding the Tiger offense to just eight kills on .083 hitting. IU got 16 kills and hit .379 to win 25-15. Eight Hoosiers had kills in a balance attack in the set with Anderson leading with four. Hansen added five digs in the stanza.
The third set saw the Hoosiers pull away from the first serve to a 20-10 lead. A Tiger rally got it closer, but IU pulled out the set 25-21. Haverly had four kills in the frame and McDonald added three kills and three of her blocks. Gallagher had five digs and nine assists in the set.
The fourth set was all Hoosiers as IU hit .500 with 16 kills and held the TSU attack to just eight kills for a 25-14 set win. Leach had five kills and Anderson added four. Gallagher had five digs and Hansen added four as IU rolled. Nwaeze added two aces in the final set.
