Indiana Sweeps UAB for Tourney Title

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana Volleyball (8-1) swept UAB (9-3) on Saturday to claim the Hoosier Classic title and remain unbeaten in six home matches this season. IU won 3-0 (25-13, 26-24, 25-14). Jordan Haverly reeled in Tournament MVP honors after killing 12, digging 13 and acing three in the final match. Amelia Anderson and Katie Gallagher joined her on the All-Tournament team.
Anderson had 15 kills in the match to finish the weekend with 50. Anderson hit .560 in the match to pace the team. IU got nine kills from Morgan Leach and seven from Awele Nwaeze. Haverly's double-double is her first of the season. Caitlin Hansen had 12 digs and Gallagher had 25 assists. Nwaeze had seven blocks, leading an IU defense that swatted 9.5 Tiger attacks.
In the first set, IU hit .571 to steadily pull away, leading by as much as 15 en route to a 25-13 win. Haverly had six kills in the set to go with an ace. Leach and Nwaeze each had four kills in the set, with Nwaeze adding three blocks.
The second set saw the Hoosiers remain effective but slow down a touch, hitting .316 with 17 kills en route to a 26-24 win. Anderson had eight kills in the set, including the set winner.
The third set was all IU, as the Hoosiers never trailed or tied with the Blazers en route to a 25-14 victory. Haverly and Anderson each had four kills in the set, with Haverly adding an ace and five digs.
