IU Blanked by #4 Penn State
Oct. 1, 2005
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Indiana volleyball squad dropped to 8-8 (1-3 Big Ten) on the season after a tough loss to #4 Penn State. The Hoosiers succumbed to an incredible Penn State attack in a 3-0 (30-24, 30-10, 30-18) loss.
"We had a last minute lineup change, and we responded really well in game one," Indiana head coach Katie Weismiller said. "We were winning in game one, but Penn State is really good. We couldn't get them out of their system tonight. Our passing went down in games two and three and we couldn't stay in our system. We competed for a good portion."
In the first frame, IU gave the Nittany Lions all they could handle in a 30-24 loss. The Hoosiers nearly out-hit Penn State, but came up just short .302-.256.
The second and third games were all Penn State. The Nittany Lions hammered the ball for a .531 hitting clip in the 30-10 triumph to go up 2-0, while they also notched a .378 hitting rate in the 30-18 win in the third frame.
