Hoosiers Fall to Northwestern in Five

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana Volleyball (8-8, 0-5) fell in five sets to Northwestern (10-7, 2-3) on Friday. The Wildcats prevailed (25-18 22-25, 24-26, 25-15, 15-8). Indiana got 13 kills each from Chanté George and Awele Nwaeze. Amelia Anderson added 11 kills, Morgan Leach had 10, and Caitlin Hansen added 20 digs.
Northwestern won the first set, 25-18. The Hoosiers got four kills from Leach in the set and Hansen added five digs. Nwaeze added three kills in the set as well.
The second set saw Indiana come out on fire, storming out to a 5-1 lead. Northwestern battled back to tie things at 8-8. The teams were back and forth to 15-15, which is when the Hoosiers took control, pulling away slowly to a 25-22 victory. George was great, killing six balls on seven swings to lead the Hoosiers. Jordan Haverly added four digs in the set, and Amelia Anderson, Leach and Nwaeze all had three kills.
The third set saw the Hoosiers mount an impressive late comeback. After a Wildcat rally let to a 24-22 deficit for the Hoosiers, IU responded to win four straight and take the set 26-24. Nwaeze had five kills on six swings and added three blocks in the set. IU also got a spark from Jade Henderson in the third, as she had three kills on four swings. Hansen added five blocks in the set.
The fourth set saw everything go right for the Wildcats and little for the Hoosiers, as Northwestern won 25-15. The Hoosiers got three kills from George and seven digs from Hansen in the frame.
Northwestern stormed out to an 8-2 lead in the fifth, and Indiana's rally fell short as the Wildcats prevailed 15-8.
