Hoosiers Suffer 3-1 Setback To No. 23 Michigan In Season Finale

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss to No. 23-ranked Michigan in its season finale this evening, falling 23-25, 25-22, 23-25, 20-25. The Hoosiers finish the 2013 campaign at 9-22 and 1-19 in Big Ten action. Michigan moves to 18-13 on the year and 8-12 in conference play.
The Hoosiers hit .238 in the contest with three members reaching double-digit kills on the night. Amelia Anderson led the Hoosiers with 17 kills on 29 tries, good for a .414 clip. Jordan Haverly posted a double-double in her final contest donning the Cream and Crimson with 11 kills and 11 digs. Morgan Leach recorded 13 terminations against the Wolverines and added five blocks.
In set one, the Hoosiers battled point-for-point through the frame and brought it to within one at 21-22, however the Wolverines close out the game at 25-22. Leach paced Indiana with her five kills, while Hansen added five digs and Megan Tallman and Katie Gallagher dished out eight assists apiece.
The Hoosiers bounced back to take set two 25-22. Anderson and Leach added four kills in the frame, while Jade Henderson and Haverly chipped in the three each.
Michigan would take set three in another seesaw battle, 25-23. The frame sat deadlocks on 19 seperate occasions and featured eight lead changes. Anderson's six kills led Indiana, and Henderson and Leach added a pair of blocks each.
Indiana trailed by as many as five in set four but managed to climb to within three at 21-19, however the Wolverines would clinch the match with a 25-20 win in set four. Anderson and Haverly added four kills each, while Hansen added five digs in the frame.
