Leach Heading To National Team Tryouts

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Morgan Leach of the Indiana Volleyball team will be participating in the USA Volleyball U.S. Women’s National Team Open tryouts on Feb. 21-23 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
“Sending Morgan to the USA National open tryout is just the next step in her career,” said Indiana head coach Sherry Dunbar. “She has worked extremely hard to put herself in this position to compete against the best and see where she stacks up in the end. I am very proud of her progress and thrilled for her to have this opportunity. I believe she will use this as confidence and motivation for her final year of competition at Indiana.”
Leach, a right-side hitter who led the team in kills (313), kills per set (2.77) and attack percentage (.249), will join 248 athletes representing 106 colleges and universities throughout the country in hopes of earning a spot on the U.S. Women’s National Team and/or the U.S. Collegiate National Teams program. Among the participants are 63 liberos, 61 middle blockers, 61 outside hitters, 36 setters and 27 opposites with 29 of those athletes representing programs from the Big Ten Conference.
Leach will compete in the three-day tryout process under the guidance of Karch Kiraly. Kiraly, a a three-time Olympic gold medalist and U.S. Olympic Hall of Famer, will also be joined by the U.S. Women’s National Team staff as they determine which athletes will be selected for this prestigious honor.
Selected athletes will be notified by early March, and an official announcement from USA Volleyball will be released by the end of March once all roster spots are accepted and confirmed.
