PROVIDENCE, RI - The No. 13 Indiana water polo team improved their record to 3-0 with their 17-6 victory of Brown and the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatic Center in Providence, RI. This is the first time the IU water polo team has begun their season 3-0 since the inaugural season in 1998, when the Hoosiers went six matches before a loss.

Indiana's very first possession of the match ended in a goal from senior Shae Fournier. Fournier scooped up the ball on a perfectly placed pass from teammate Colleen McNuaght. McNaught, a junior, ended the match with five assists, tying the Indiana single-game record for helpers in a match. This is the second time McNaught has totaled as many assists after she dropped five dimes against Santa Clara on Feb. 11, 2012.

The Hoosier offense was clicking on all fronts as transfer Allison Campbell and freshman Ellie Stott gave the Hoosiers a 3-0 lead before Brown had taken a single shot on goal.

Sophomore Center, and reigning CWPA Player of the Week, Candyce Schroeder followed up her impressive performance against Michigan with an equally impressive match against Brown. She finished the match with a career-high four goals, an assist, and a steal, making this the second time in three games she has scored three-plus goals in a match.

Brown was able to get a shot to go as the first quarter came to a close with a score of 5-1. The second quarter was much of the same as goals from McNaught, Schroeder, Shelby Taylor, Katie Contreras, and Meghan Lappan were able to add to Indiana's lead. The Bears scored once more and the Hoosiers went into halftime with a 10-2 advantage.

As the fourth quarter began, Brown's opening three possessions ended in three steals for McNaught. Amanda Redfern, Summer Creighton, and Alexis Jones were all able to add points and the Hoosiers finished with a resounding 17-6 victory.

Indiana will face conference rival No. 19 Hartwick at 7:00 pm EST in game two of the Brown Invitational.
