ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The No. 14 Indiana water polo team has clinched the Western Division Title for the second year in a row with their 12-6 rout over No. 19 Hartwick during the Western Division Round Robin No. 2 at the Canham Natatorium in Ann Arbor, Mich.

With Hartwick's win over Michigan the night before, Indiana knew they had a chance to seal the Western Division Title with one more win. The Hoosiers have earned an automatic spot in the CWPA Championship in two weeks at Bucknell University, with IU earning no lower than a two seed.

It took several minutes into the first quarter for either team to score, but once Indiana senior Shae Fournier found the back of the net for the initial goal, a bullet from junior Rebecca Gerrity almost immediately followed.

A goal on a power play and a made 5-meter attempt tied the score at two each. Strong defense from the Hoosiers stop three back-to-back Hawks offensive drives, and a left-handed ball from Colleen McNaught gave Indiana a 3-2 advantage at the end of the third.

Hatwick was able to tie the score one more time early in the second quarter, but that would be the last time the Hawks would be within reach. Five straight Hoosier goals, three coming from Shelby Taylor alone, ended the half with a resounding 8-4 IU lead.

Both Taylor and Fournier finished the match with hat-tricks. Fournier also added two assists and four steals for the red team. Shae, already Indiana's all-time leading scorer, is now just four dimes away from breaking the all-time assist record at IU set by Brooke Zimmerman with 151 helpers.

Goals from Ellie Stott, Meghan Lappan, and Carson Nestler led to a 12-6 final victory. Last season the Hoosiers won the Western Division Title for the first time in school history, also against Hartwick. Indiana has one more match against Gannon University at 1:30 pm EST to conclude the second leg of the Western Round Robin.
