April 10, 2014
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Hoosier senior Shae Fournier has earned Conference Player of the Week for the third time this season, making this the 19th conference award Fournier has earned in her career.
Shae tallied 14 goals, two assists and 16 steals in a 4-0 weekend at Hartwick College. Playing just two quarters a match, she helped Indiana stop Western Division conference opponents Gannon (22-3), No. 19 Hartwick College (12-9), and Notre Dame College (19-1), while also handling Marist College (15-3) of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
Already Indiana's all-time leading scorer, Fournier posted a hat-tricks against Gannon and Notre Dame while totaling four scores each against the host/nationally-ranked Hartwick College and Marist. Fournier's defensive efforts were second to none in the pool. Shae matched a career-high seven steals against Hartwick, while adding five more against Notre Dame.
With her two assists over the weekend, Fournier now sits at second all-time on the Indiana assist record list, needing just six more dimes to move her into first place, passing Brooke Zimmerman with 151 assists.
The Hoosiers, 16-5 (9-0), will head to Ann Arbor, Mich. this weekend to compete in the second leg of the Western Division Round Robin.
