Fournier and Schroeder Win Weekly Awards for Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The CWPA has announced that junior Shae Fournier has won conference player of the week and freshman Candyce Schroeder has won Rookie of the Week for April 7-14. This is Fournier's 16th weekly honor from the CWPA, and Schroeder's first.
With the score tied and only 32 seconds left in the match, it was Fournier who drove the ball down the length of the pool, drew the exclusion, and made the game winning goal with four seconds on the clock to give Indiana its first ever CWPA Western Conference Championship in school history.
Fournier had three goals on the championship match against Hartwick alone. She finished the weekend with seven goals, two assists, five steals, and six field blocks, only adding to her already impressive stats. So far on the season Fournier has 59 goals, 34 assists, and team highs of 57 steals and 32 field blocks.
Fournier still holds the school record for most goals scored in a single season with 95 and has tied the single-game goals scored record with six in one match. Shae is currently fourth all-time at IU in scoring with 213 career goals. She only needs 12 more to move into third place currently held by Krista Peterson with 224. Fournier is also sixth all -time at Indiana in assists and fourth in steals.
Freshman Candyce Schroeder in the Hoosiers' win over #18 Michigan to start the tournament. Schroeder shot two for two on the net and added new career highs of two assists and two field blocks. The center created space in the middle and opened up shots for everyone on the perimeter, helping IU deal the Wolverines their first ever loss in the tournament.
As the only freshman to start for the Hoosiers on offense all season Schroder has scored 20 goals and added a notable 9 assists and 11 steals as the middle.
The Hoosiers will head to Ann Arbor Friday to compete in the CWPA Eastern Conference Finals with a trip to the NCAA Tournament on the line.
