Shae Fournier Named to Canada Senior Women's Roster for 2014 FINA World League Events

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - CWPA Player of the Year and Indiana's all-time leading scorer and top assister, Shae Fournier, was named to the Canadian Senior National Team for the upcoming Intercontinental Tournament in Riverside, Calif. from May 18 to 26. This nine-team event serves as the FINA World League preliminary round and will qualify four teams to participate in this year's Super Final in Kunshan, China, from June 7 to 16.
This will be Fournier's (Sr., Winnipeg, Manitoba/Grant Park)first major international event with the senior women's team. She competed with Team Canada last summer with their U-20 squad during the World University Games in Kazan, Russia.
The competition will feature nine different national teams from Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Oceania. Group A for the prelims is comprised of Japan, Brazil, Venezuela, Australia and Kazakhstan while Canada finds itself in Group B, alongside South Africa, the United States and China. The official schedule will be released shortly.
The Canadian women will be hosting China for a joint training camp in Montreal from May 11 to 15. Two official games to be played on Monday, May 12 and Tuesday, May 13 at 6 p.m. at Complexe Sportif Claude-Robillard before the team immediately heads to Riverside, Calif. to compete in the tournament.
