LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Indiana sophomore center Candyce Schroeder has been named to the NCAA All-Tournament Second Team following her standout weekend competing for the Hoosiers at the Utyengsu Aquatics Center at the University of Southern California.
Despite missing over a month of practice and playing time due to injury, Schroeder complied tournament stats of seven goals, 11 earned exclusions, one assist, and one steal against the top competition in the nation to lead Indiana to a seventh place finish in the 2014 NCAA Championship.
Coming off the bench, Schroeder stood her ground against No. 1 ranked, and eventual National Champions, Stanford, scoring all of Indiana's points in the first round match.
"I just want to put it out there and mention this is the first time in over a month that Candyce (Schroeder) has touched the water," said King. "She had a concussion and for her to come out here and give the kind of effort that she did, that's going to be the message in the locker room for the next couple of days."
Schroder continued her assertion in the pool, scoring the first Indiana goal against Arizona State, finishing with he second straight hat trick. Candyce netted two more in IU's win over UC San Diego, clinching the seventh place finish for Indiana in the tournament.
