    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Eight members of the Indiana Hoosiers women's water polo team have been honored with 2013 Women's All-Academic Awards for their achievements during the past season, announced by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC).

    The eight honorees is tied for the second-most all-time by an IU team, trailing the nine recipients from 2011. The Hoosiers also had eight student-athletes receive the award in 2009.

    Student-athletes are selected on a level-based GPA scale that includes Outstanding (3.71-4.00), Superior (3.41-3.70), and Excellent (3.20-3.40).

    As a team, Indiana posted a GPA of 3.43, which is the fifth-best among all women's collegiate water polo teams in the country.

    Meghan Lappan earned the highest honor, Outstanding recognition, for the third consecutive season.

    Shelby Taylor earned Outstanding recognition for the second straight season and was joined by Amanda Redfern and Rebecca Gerrity among top honorees

    Shae Fournier garnered Superior distinction for the third year running and was joined by Candyce Schroder.

    Summer Creighton earned Excellent recognition for the second consecutive season and was joined by Jessica Gaudrealt.
