BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Over the next couple months, we will take a look back at some of the players and teams from the Indiana Water Polo program that have made it the program that it is today - one of the best in the country. This week, we look back at the career of Jakie Köhli.

Hailing from Burnaby, British Columbia, Jakie Köhli was a member of the Hoosier Water Polo team from 2009-2013 (redshirted 2012 due to shoulder surgery). In her career, she amassed 244 goals, 276 steals, and 134 assists. She also has the school record for goals in a game with six, which she accomplished on four separate occasions.

Jakie is one of the most decorated players in Indiana Water Polo history. She was named ACWPC All-America Honorable Mention twice (2010, 2011). Three times in her career, Jakie was named CWPA All-Division (2010, 2011, 2013). As well as being a great Hoosier athlete, she also excelled in the classroom - named to ACWPC All-Academic team twice (2009, 2011), CWPA All-Academic three times (2009, 2010, 2011), and Academic All-Big Ten (2010, 2011, 2013).

We caught up with Köhli recently to look back on her career and also catch up with her life after graduation. Here's what she had to say:

What are some of your best memories of your time at Indiana, whether it is with Water Polo or not?
KÖHLI: "Some of my best memories were going out for breakfast at Gresham after a hard morning practice, our travelling weekends and getting to see some of the girls houses, and, best of all, was just having movie nights where we ordered Pizza X and Baked.

Is there one game or moment in particular that sticks out for you?
KÖHLI: "Definitely the championship game we won in 2011 against Michigan that meant we made it to NCAA's, which was in Michigan. Beating Michigan at our home pool was an experience I will never forget."

How did playing water polo at Indiana help you prepare for life after college?
KÖHLI: "It definitely made being away from home a lot easier to handle. I'm very independent now and have been living on my own since I graduated so I have started to excel in things like cooking, baking and cleaning."

What are you doing now in terms of occupation, where do you live, family?
KÖHLI: "I am currently training with the Canadian National Team in Montreal on the Road to Rio. After spending a year in Australia I realized that I wasn't ready to give up on my dreams just yet so the next two years will be dedicated to that."

Do you keep in contact with any of your teammates from your time at Indiana?
KÖHLI: "Yes, I see the Canadian girls quite regularly and I also made a couple of trips to visit some of the girls in my graduating class after my super senior year. I hope to make it down to IU again this fall to see how grown up everyone has become!"
