Water Polo Helps With Habitat For Humanity
Oct. 8, 2012
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Members of the Indiana Women's Water Polo team helped the Bloomington Habitat for Humanity program with the construction of a home for a family in the community this past Sunday (Oct. 7).
The build took place on 17th Street, across the road from Memorial Stadium, on Sunday morning. Team was there for a little over three hours Sunday morning but the house they worked on will continue to be completed during the week. The house is for the Kell family and it will be moved to its final location and dedicated this weekend.
As for the tasks that the team took on, some were on the roof nailing down the plywood and putting down the felt sheet that acts as a water barrier between the wood and the roof shingles. Another group of team members helped with window installation including the leveling, caulking and sealing of the windows
"For me the most enjoyable thing was seeing how happy the Kell Family was," junior Shae Fournier said afterwards. "Everyone also loved getting to be on a roof, while some girls enjoyed getting to use power tools. But in the end, we were just happy to be working for such a good cause."
