Canadian National Team Loses Final Match of Canada Cup, Sets Sights on Holiday Cup

GATINEAU, Quebec. - The Canadian women's national team lost their final match of the Canada Cup to the Americans by a final score of 11-8. This set the finals match to be played by the United States and Australia.
Team Canada played neck-and-neck with the American for the majority of the match, ending the first half with a 4-4 tie. The defending Olympic Champions finally broke loose against the Canadians in the final eight minutes scoring five unanswered goals and sealing their place in the title match.
The Canadian National Team will now focus on the 2013 Holiday Cup to be held in Santa Ana, Calif. from December 11-15. The Holiday Cup is a six-team international women's water polo competition held in the US since 1998. The competition includes squads from the USA, Canada, Australia, Greece, the Netherlands, and Russia.
Indiana goalkeeper Jessica Gaudreault has been named to the Canadian roster for this event along with 14 other national team players. The Holiday Cup will be immediately followed by the qualifier for the 2014 FINA World Cup.
