Oct. 15, 2005
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Hoosiers women's cross country team traveled to Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday and took 17th place in a competitive women's Blue Division that featured 35 teams.
Stanford took first in the Blue Division, knocking off second-place Notre Dame 86-147. Victoria Mitchell took first overall for 11th-place Butler, finishing with a time of 20:02
Junior All-American Jessica Gall once again finished first for IU, taking 40th place overall with a time of 21:09. Senior Lindsay Hattendorf and Larra Overton finished close behind in 46th (21:18) and 54th (21:26), respectively. Also running for Indiana were junior Kristin Whitezell (123rd, 22:19), freshman Wendi Robinson (157th, 22:39), senior Kelly Siefker (207th, 23:33) and sophomore Maura Ratcliff (216th, 23:54).
"I feel like we had a little deeper race than the other division did," Indiana head coach Judy Wilson said. "I know we are right there. I feel good with our top three runners, and we have three others who have been running with the top three in practice. From one race to the next, a light goes on and things can change quickly. We are going to go to Minnesota and try to finish in the top five at the Big Ten Championships."
Indiana's next race will be on Sunday, October 30 in Minneapolis, Minn., where the Big Ten Championships will be held. Indiana ran at Les Bolstad Golf Course earlier this season at the Roy Griak Invitational. Race time is set for 11:00 a.m.
