Pease Leads Women's Cross Country At Big Ten Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Sophomore Sarah Pease paced the Indiana women's cross country squad to a ninth place finish (280 pts.) at the 2007 Big Ten Cross Country Championships, hosted by Ohio State on the Buckeyes' Golf Course on Sunday, Oct. 28.
Pease placed 32nd overall in the women's 6K with a personal-best time of 21:07.86. Sophomore Caity Lauer crossed the finish line in a personal-best time of 22:15.99 to finish 68th overall. Freshman Natalie Goolik placed 73rd with a personal-best time of 22:23.68. Junior Kristina Trcka followed Goolik in 74th with a time of 22:24.87. Senior Lauren Keefe clocked a personal-best time of 22:44.54 to finish 81st to round out the Hoosier top-five.
Sophomore Jenny Kulow rounded out the Hoosier top-five in 85th place with a time of 22:58.52. Senior Maura Ratcliff finished in 87th place with a time of 23:09.09 and classmate Kristin Whitezell clocked a time of 23:16.61 to finish 89th.
Minnesota won the women's title with a team score of 72 points. Michigan State scored 73 points to take second, Michigan placed third with 90 points, Illinois took fourth with 95 points and Iowa complete the top five with 103 points.
The Hoosiers will be back in action on Nov. 10 as Indiana hosted the Great Lakes Regional Championship on the IU Cross Country Course. The men's 10K is slated for 11 a.m. ET, with the women's 6K following at 12:15 p.m.
