Pease Paces Hoosiers to 17th-Place Finish at 2007 Great Lakes Regional Championship

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's cross country team had the home course advantage as they hosted the 2007 NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships on the IU Cross Country Championship Course in Bloomington on Saturday, Nov. 10. The women's team took 17th place with 451 points.
Sophomore Sarah Pease paced the Hoosiers with a time of 21:52.88 to finish 27th overall. Freshman Natalie Goolik finished 84th overall with a personal-best time of 23:01.35. Senior Maura Ratcliff placed 109th overall with a time of 23:20.56, junior Kristina Trcka took 111th overall with a time of 23:21.58 and senior Kristin Whitezell clocked a time of 23:35.00 to finish 124th overall. Senior Lauren Keefe placed 156th with a time of 24:07.64 and sophomore Jenny Kulow rounded out IU's group of seven in 198th place overall with a time of 25:36.67.
Michigan State won the women's 6K regional title with a team score of 60 points, while Michigan finished second with a score of 63 points. Both teams earn the Great Lakes Regional automatic bid to the 2007 NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 19. Wisconsin placed third with a scored of 93 points, Marquette took fourth with 192 points and Butler rounded out the top five with a team score of 220 points.
Michigan's Nicole Edwards won the individual title with a time of 20:30.76.
At-large bids to the national championship meet will be announced by the NCAA on Monday, Nov. 12.
