Hoosiers Take Seventh, Michigan Claims Title at Great Lakes Regional Meet
Nov. 12, 2005
BLOOMINGTON, Ind.-- Paced once again by All-American junior Jessica Gall the Hoosiers took seventh place at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Saturday, Nov. 12. Indiana managed to place three runners in the top 25, and two in the top ten, with Gall finishing fifth overall.
Michigan took the team championship with 52 points, edging past Notre Dame with 68. Senior Victoria Mitchell ran away from the pack early for an easy victory as she won individual honors with a time of 20:37.0.
"I am really excited for Jessica, and Lindsay," head coach Judy Wilson said. "Jess really needed this going into the national meet and Lindsay has just been solid for us the last few meets. I told Wendi right before the race to shoot for a top 25 finish. She is that gutsy type of kid to go out there and get it done."
Gall and Hattendorf will earn individual spots in the NCAA Championships by finishing fifth and eighth overall respectively. The championships will be held in Terre Haute, Ind., on Monday, Nov. 21.
