What's Happening: The Hoosiers will be hosting the USAT&F at the Harry Gladstein Fieldhouse on Friday, March 6th. Action is set to begin at 4 p.m. This is the Hoosiers last meet of the Indoor season prior to the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis on March 6-7.

The Week in Review: Last weekend the Hoosiers competed in the Big Ten Indoor Championships. The men's team finished seventh while the women's team found themselves in eighth place. The Hoosiers did finish up the weekend with the Big Ten men's champion in the shot put. Sophomore Kurt Krick's throw of 18.43m was good enough to give him the distinction of Big Ten Champ.

Several other Hoosiers turned in impressive performances. These included a second place finish by Ty Yeager in the 55m hurdles (:07.29), a second place in the 200m (:21.59) and a sixth in the 55m dash (:06.42) by Russell Brooks, and two fourth place finishes by Tom Chorny (5000m run- 14:20.88, 3000m run- 8:20.83). IU senior Zach Fleming was right behind teammate Kurt Krick in the shot put with a third place finish (18.06m).

On the women's side, senior Hilary Bruening finished second in the 600m run (1:31.12). Nathalie Belfort recorded a season best in the high jump finishing third with a mark of 1.80m. Freshman Jennifer Brown's throw of 15.14m was good enough for a third place finish.

Big Ten dominance: The Indiana men's track & field team has set a standard at the Big Ten Championships in the shot put. The Hoosiers have won the last five Big Ten men's shot put titles. In 1996, IU alum Nathan Davis held this distinction in both the Indoor (62-8 3/4) and Outdoor (61-5) Big Ten Championships. In 1997, Davis continued his legacy as the Big Ten Champion at the Indoors (18.37m) prior to passing the torch to teammate Zach Fleming who reigned as the Big Ten Outdoor Champ (18.12m). IU sophomore Kurt Krick continued this tradition by capturing this season's Big Ten Indoor shot put championship.

NCAA Watch: The following Hoosiers have meet or surpassed the NCAAJprovisional standard in their respective events: Nathalie Belfort (High Jump, 1.80m), Jennifer Brown (Shot Put-15.70m, 20 lbs. weight throw-16.78m), Kurt Krick (Shot Put, 18.67m), Zach Fleming (Shot Put, 18.15m), and Ty Yeager (55m hurdles, :07.24).

Coach Bell: Coach Sam Bell is in his 29th year as Track and Field and cc Coach at Indiana. His teams have produced 25 men's and women's Big Ten championship teams, and his athletes have earned All-American honors 189 times.

Coach Wilson: Coach Roseann Wilson is in her ninth year as the head Women's Track and Field and cc Coach at Indiana. Under her guidance, the track and field program has won a pair of Big Ten titles and 32 athletes have earned All-American honors.
