    HOOSIERS TRAVEL TO SEA RAY RELAYS

    What's happening: The Hoosiers return to the road this weekend as they travel to Knoxville, Tennessee for the Sea Ray Relays. The three day affair is set to begin on Thursday, April 9th with competition concluding on Saturday, April 11th.

    The week in review: The Indiana men's and women's track & field team hosted the Big Four meet on Saturday, April 4th. Avenging a third place finish at last season's Big Four, the IU men's team won this year's meet coming from behind to beat Purdue by 5.50 points. The Hoosiers were led by sophomore Russell Brooks. Brooks captured the 100m (:10.62) and the 200m dash (:21.74) while being named the Big Four track co-MVP. The women's team finished third behind first place Purdue and Ball State. Senior Metaja Bezjak won the javelin throw for the second straight meet with a mark of 45.56m.

    NCAA watch: Senior Nathalie Belfort and freshman Jennifer Brown added their names to the list of Hoosiers reaching the provisional standard in their respective events. Belfort's mark of 1.78m in the high jump equalled the NCAA provisional standard while Brown bested the mark in the shot put with a throw of 14.83m. Those that have already met the NCAA standard in their respective events include the following: Ty Yeager (110m hurdles- :13.91), Tom Chorny (Steeplechase- 8:53.70), LaToya Turner (100m hurdles- :13.67), and Metaja Bezjak (Javelin- 50.02m).

    Coach Bell: Coach Sam Bell is in his 29th year as Track and Field and cc Coach at Indiana. His teams have produced 25 men's and women's Big Ten championships, and his athletes have earned All-American honors 190 times.

    Coach Wilson: Coach Roseann Wilson is in her ninth year as the head Women's Track and Field and cc Coach at Indiana. Under her guidance, the track and field program has won a pair of Big Ten titles and 32 athletes have earned All-American honors.

    Next up: The Hoosiers return home after the Sea Ray Relays for their first dual meet of the outdoor season. IU hosts Big Ten rival Illinois on Saturday, April 18th, at the Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex. Competition is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
