Hoosiers Finish 16th at Notre Dame Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Hoosiers traveled to South Bend for the 50th annual Notre Dame Invitational on Friday, Sept. 30. IU finished 16th in a tough 24-team field featuring some of the best teams in the Midwest region.
"We are not where we want to be right now," head coach Judy Wilson said. "We still have a couple of weeks before the Pre-NCAA Meet. We just need to regroup and run at our fitness level."
Finishing first for the Hoosiers was All-American junior Jessica Gall with a time of 17:45, finishing 38th overall. Junior Lindsay Hattendorf and senior Larra Overton finished 72nd and 73rd overall with times of 18:07 and 18:08, respectively. Freshman Wendi Robinson finished 4th for the Hoosiers and 92nd overall in 18:24.
Rounding out the rest of the race for Indiana was junior Kristin Whitezell 147th with a time of 19:02, senior Kelly Siefker 161st overall in 19:12, sophomore Maura Ratcliff 173rd overall in 19:27, and freshman Ashley Sommer 183rd with a time of 19:41.
Michigan took first place overall, placing four runners in the top twenty, beating Illinois 77 to 82. Host Notre Dame finished third overall with senior Stephanie Madia taking first place honors with a time of 16:36, narrowly beating teammate senior Molly Huddle who finished second in 16:39.
The Hoosiers will be in action next at the Pre-NCAAs in Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday Oct. 15. Race time is set for 11 a.m.
