INDIANA TO COMPETE IN INAUGURAL BILL DELLINGER INVITATIONAL
After a week off from competition, the Hoosiers will get back into action this weekend when they travel to Pre-Nationals at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course in Terre Haute, Ind., the site of the 2006 NCAA Championships. The meet will be a preview of nationals and will feature all 11 Big Ten teams. The Hoosiers will run the 11 a.m. Blue 6K race.
GALL PACES HOOSIERS AT INAUGURAL BILL DELLINGER INVITATIONAL
Senior All-American Jessica Gall paced the Hoosier harriers with an 11th-place finish of 20:55.75 in the 6K of the inaugural Bill Dellinger Invitational hosted by the University of Oregon on Sept. 29. IU finished seventh overall with 170 points among some of the nation's best teams. Gall was followed by senior Lindsay Hattendorf with a time of 21:19.29 for 22nd. She was followed by sophomores Wendi Robinson (21:30.85, 28th), Stephanie Greer (22:22.17, 54th), and Kristina Trcka (22:29.42, 62nd). Freshman Hailee Elmore placed 64th with a time of 22:35.21, and was followed by sophomore Ashley Sommer (22:51.05, 72nd) and junior Maura Ratcliff (23:06.76, 80th).
INDIANA PICKS UP VOTES IN USTFCCCA POLL
The Indiana women's cross country team picked up eight votes in this week's United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Poll. This week's poll is led by top-ranked Stanford with Colorado ranked second and Michigan at No. 3. The Hoosiers are just one of seven Big Ten schools among this week's poll. The Wolverines are followed by Wisconsin (No. 9), Iowa (No. 11), Illinois (No. 17), Minnesota (No. 18) and Michigan State (No. 21). A panel of Division I coaches vote in the USTFCCCA poll. The rankings are released weekly on Tuesday's throughout the collegiate cross country season.
IU TO HOST BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIPS
For the first time in 10 years, the IU Cross Country Championship Course will be the site of the Big Ten Championships, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 29. The women's 6K race is slated to begin at 10:45 a.m. The Hoosiers finished fourth last season at Big Tens, with senior Jessica Gall leading the way with a time of 21:30.14 for ninth place.
HOOSIERS CONTINUE TO DOMINATE INTERCOLLEGIATES
This season's Indiana Intercollegiates win marked IU's fourth-straight title in the annual meet under head coach Judy Wilson. The Hoosiers' win this year also marked the second-lowest team score (38 points) among IU's current streak. In 2003, Indiana took the title with a team score of 36 points, while the Hoosiers scored 45 points in 2004 and 63 in 2005.
GALL LEADS HOOSIER PACK AT INDIANA OPEN
Finishing first for the Hoosiers and second overall at IU's second home meet of the season was senior All-American Jessica Gall with a time of 17:40 for the 5K race. Gall's time tied her career best and was the sixth-fastest time on the IU course. Rounding out the top 10 for IU at the Indiana Open were senior Lindsay Hattendorf (18:10, 5th) and sophomore Wendi Robinson (18:18, 7th).
