BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Four Hoosiers were honored with Big Ten accolades following the Big Ten Cross Country Championships on Sunday, Nov. 2.
Senior Timothy McLeod and redshirt Wendi Robinson each earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors after each of them placed eighth at the league championships. McLeod crossed the finish line in the 10K men's championship in 24:51.4. Robinson recorded a time of 20:55.1 in the women's 6K championship.
Redshirt senior Brennon Plotner and redshirt sophomore Sarah Pease were each honored as IU's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winners. Plotner finished 29th in the men's race with a time of 25:23.5. Pease crossed the finish line in 21:36.5 for 25th place. The student-athletes chosen are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. In addition, the student-athletes must be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.
Plotner and Pease are now candidates for the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award, as the conference office will honor one male and one female student-athlete from each institution at the end of the academic year.
The Hoosiers return to action on Saturday, Nov. 15 when they travel to West Lafayette, Ind., for the 2008 NCAA Great Lakes Region Championships, hosted by Purdue University.
