    Gall, Hattendorf Qualify for NCAA's

    BLOOMINGTON, Ind.-- Juniors Jessica Gall and Lindsay Hattendorf of the IU women's cross country team have earned automatic bids to the NCAA Cross Country Championships. It will be the third trip for each of them over their career. Gall, an All-American for the Hoosiers finished fifth overall at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional this past weekend to earn her spot, while Hattendorf turned in an eighth-place performance to earn the bid. It marks the fourth-straight year that the Hoosiers have sent either a team of an individual to NCAA's.

    The 2005 NCAA Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships will be held on Monday, Nov. 21 in Terre Haute Ind., with the women's race time set for 1:15 p.m.

    "We are very excited to have Jessica and Lindsay represent the team this year at the NCAA Championships," head coach Judy Wilson said. "They both have worked extremely hard and both have had their share of ups and downs in the past."

    Gall, a native of West Lafayette has finished first for the Hoosiers in every race she has competed in this season. She earned second team All-Big Ten honors after capturing a ninth-place finish at the Big Ten Cross Country Championships on Oct. 30.

    "Jess is stepping into familiar territory, hoping to return to the top group in the race," Wilson said." "On the right day, at the right time, the sky is the limit for her."

    Hattendorf, who has made impressive strides over the course of her career, also earned second team All-Big Ten honors after taking a 10th -place finish at the conference championships.

    "Lindsay has really stepped up this year and took a huge leap to becoming a national level competitor," Wilson said. "She is a very intense competitor, who I believe has a shot at earning All American status."
