    Sports Information Director from 1947-1983...served as President of College Sports Information Directors of America in 1968-69 and CoSIDA Hall of Fame recipient...received Arch Ward Award in 1971, which is CoSIDA's highest award...Director of College Football and Basketball Writer's Associations...received numerous awards for publications and press box services.

    Won football letters in 1941, 1942, 1945 and 1946, and was captain of IU's undefeated Big Ten Championship Team in 1945...All-Big Ten in 1946 and third team All-American as a tackle in 1945...played in 1946 Blue-Gray football game...1976 Indiana Football Hall of Fame recipient...won Z.G. Clevenger Award in 1983...became an outstanding high school football coach at Hobart.

    Won basketball letters in 1980 and 1981, leading Hoosiers to two Big Ten championships and 1981 NCAA title... first team All-Big Ten in 1980 and 1981, and All-American in 1981...set season assist record in 1981...helped lead Detroit Pistons to two NBA titles...earned NBA All-Star game MVP awards in 1984 and 1986...All-NBA first team selection in 1984, 1985, and 1986...MVP of the 1990 NBA finals.

    Won swimming letters in 1971, 1972, 1973 and 1974...member of four Big Ten and three NCAA championship teams... won seven individual Big Ten championships in backstroke events and eleven Big Ten titles total...won NCAA championships in the 100 and 200 meter backstrokes in 1973...member of the 1972 U.S. Olympic team, winning a gold medal in 400 meter medley relay and silver medals in 100 and 200 meter backstrokes...former world record holder in 100 meter backstroke.

    Won cross country letters in 1978, 1979, 1980 and 1982, and track letters in 1979, 1980, 1981, and 1983, and was captain for both teams...won Big Ten individual cross country championships in 1980 and 1982...was three-time All-American...won 11 Big Ten titles and NCAA titles in the mile indoors in 1983 and the 1,500 outdoors in 1982... Big Ten Athlete of the Year Award recipient in 1981 and 1982...member of the 1984 and 1992 U.S. Olympic teams... former Big Ten record holder in the mile and 1,500.
