    Won swimming letters in 1980, 1981, 1982 and 1983 and was captain of the 1981 Big Ten Championship team...won Big Ten Championships in 200, 500 and 1650 yard freestyles in both 1980 and 1981 and the 1650 freestyle in 1982...All-American in three events in both 1980 and 1981...placed second and fifth in the 500 and 1650 freestyle at the 1980 AIAW National Championships...member of the 1976 US Olympic Team, placing sixth in the 200 meter freestyle, and Pan American Team, finishing second in 800 meter freestyle...two-time National Champion 1977...world ranked in 1977, 1978 & 1979...at one time, held five Big Ten records and ten IU records...still holds IU records in 200, 500 and 1650 yard freestyle events and former American record holder in the 500 and 1650 freestyle.

    Won track letters in 1930, 1931 and 1932 and was captain in 1932...won cross country letters in 1930, 1931 and 1932 and was captain in 1931...Big Ten cross country champion in 1931...winner of the Big Ten Medal in 1932...won Big Ten outdoor mile and two mile in 1932 and the two mile in 1930...won Big Ten indoor championship in mile and two mile in 1932...All-American in 1932...member of teams that won two Big Ten indoor titles and the 1932 NCAA Championship in track and three Big Ten cross country championships.

    Came to IU as a walk-on and won track letters in 1977, 1978, 1979 and 1980 and was co-captain in 1980...won Big Ten indoor titles in the triple jump in 1978, 1979 and 1980 and won outdoor Big Ten titles in both the long jump and triple jump in 1978 and 1979...won 1979 NCAA title in the indoor triple jump to become IU's first indoor NCAA Champion...five time All-American...Balfour Award recipient in 1980...member of 1988 Olympic Team in the triple jump and the 1991 Pan American Games team...still holds IU records in both indoor and outdoor triple jump.

    IU equipment manager from 1946 until 1983, a span of 37 years...worked for IU Building and Grounds before becoming equipment manager...a counselor and friend to many IU coaches and athletes and often the first friend to many former IU athletes...Red's devotion to IU and his friendship to all he touched cannot be surpassed.

    Won soccer letters in 1982, 1983, 1984 and 1985...member of NCAA championship teams in 1982 and 1983...NCAA Defensive MVP 1982...second team All-American in 1982 and third team All American in 1984 and 1985...member of the East Regional Team for the Olympic Sports Festival in 1982, 1983 & 1985...member of Youth World Cup team 1981 and National Amateur Soccer Athlete of the Year...played professionally with the Cleveland Force 1986-87 & 1987-88 and was rookie of the year 1986-87...member of the Pan American Games team and the World University Games team in 1987...the 1988 US Olympic team and the 1990 US World Cup Team...member of the Soccer America All-Decade '80s team... set IU career assist record and currently ranks third on IU career list.
