BLOOMINGTON, Ind. –––– As Indiana Football's Week 2 matchup versus Kennesaw State on Saturday (September 6) approaches, redshirt senior Pat Coogan and junior D'Angelo Ponds addressed the media inside the Don Croftcheck Football Team Room.

Pat Coogan | OL | R-Sr.
On how it felt to start the season with a win…
PC: It felt great. It was a great crowd, beautiful day we got blessed with the weather, but it was exciting to be out there and just start playing with the boys. It was a great time.
On the running backs being so effective against Old Dominion and how the offensive line's approach…
PC: Credit to them, they hit it. You can just see the explosiveness in them from the jump and we're just trying to do our job, that's what we do as offensive linemen, we do our jobs and open holes for those way more athletic and talented guys to hit them. Proud of those guys and it's onward and upward for sure.
On anything the offensive line strategized to open the run game…
PC: ODU's (Old Dominion's) defense presented a unique challenge, it was a 3-3-5. Targeting and distributing combinations to the backers could be difficult and they made it difficult for other teams in the past that's why, one, they had success against some schools last year and two, they're going to be a very good team this year is because they present a unique challenge, schematically. So, I think we targeted very well and we worked together very well.
D'Angelo Ponds | DB | Jr.
On his interception and the value of Kellan Wyatt's help with the tip…
DP: It's very valuable. I owe him something for that, he (Wyatt) made it pretty easy for me, tipping the ball. I appreciate him for that. He definitely is a big part of our defense and he has a bright future ahead.
On the secondary's growth and the rotation…
DP: I definitely feel like we're getting better as we get more game reps. I feel like we are good in our subs, they didn't cross the 50 (yard-line) besides those runs. I feel like we are getting better, but we need to progress and fast.
On Amare Ferrell's maturity and growth…
DP: He's a big part of our defense and he has matured. He's stepped into that leader role. He's always been that player for us, and he's stepped into that role and he's definitely matured as you can see.
